Women may undergo various treatments to reach their motherhood. Among them IVF is the major procedure in which the implantation of an embryo takes place to get pregnant. It is compulsory to wait for at least 10 days to see positive results.

During this period of time, it will be challenging for you to deal with various emotional feelings and stress. Since several biological processes might undergo at this time, it is important to wait patiently during this phase.

In this blog, we shall discover what are the symptoms of embryo transfer, what is the difference between period pain and implantation pain, and how to prevent cramping.

10 days after embryo transfer - Symptoms:

IVF-treated women wait patiently with hope and deeply check for positive symptoms after embryo transfer. As a result of a positive pregnancy, various symptoms occur such as,

1. Bleeding after Implantation

It is a common symptom that every woman faces after the implantation of embryo transfer. The bleeding happens because the fertilized egg gets attached to the lining of the uterus. The color of the bleeding may be red, pink, or brown which is lighter than the regular periods and does not increase in flow. It lasts only a few hours to two days.

2. Cramping and Back pain

You can feel the mild cramp, like period cramp, once the embryo is transfered to the uterus from the fallopian tube. Many women take medications such as Intramuscular injections, Vaginal Suppositories, Vaginal Gels, and Oral Progesterone to increase their progesterone hormone at the time of IVF. Thus these medications can also lead to cramping.

3. Breast Tenderness

As an early sign of pregnancy, it is common for a woman to feel discomfort in her breast which is caused by the pregnancy hormones. It happens between 7-10 days after embryo transfer. Some medications are used to increase the progesterone and estrogen hormones which later causes changes in the breast tissue.

4. Nausea

It will be better if you avoid eating everything that you get in your hand. Try to eat what is healthy for you and your baby. You need to be in control from the time of embryo transfer.

Nausea is also another sign of positive pregnancy for the successful transfer of embryos. It happens because the pregnancy hormone increases the level of progesterone and estrogen. It is also known as morning sickness as it mostly occurs early before sunset.

5. Mood Swings

The most common symptoms found in every woman after embryo transfer are mood swings. You may experience various mood swings in a short span.

Even a normal sickness may cause a larger irritation. Without any reason, their emotional cycle rolls on. It happens due to various hormonal changes. These fluctuations can be ease if you share it with your partner.

6. Frequent Urination

This happens because of the growth of the embryo and the increased blood level. It always urges you to get into the restroom. Try not to control consuming water as it is not the reason. This positive symptom confirms that there is a growth in your embryo.

Is Period Pain a Positive Signal for Embryo Transfer?

Yes. Period cramps are the positive signal that comes after a successful embryo transfer. Most women may come across this common symptom. At the time of  embryo transfer, a catheter is inserted into the bladder to release the fertilized egg. After completion of the process, a mild cramp pain will appear.

Various medications such as

Clomid – helps to increase fertility levels when it is consumed through the mouth.

Doxycycline – helps to prevent infection after the embryo transfer.

Steroids – prednisolone pills are used to cure infertility.

Heparin – helps to increase the blood flow in the uterus.

These medications will help to increase the blood flow to the uterus and are used to stimulate the egg to get pregnant and it can also cause side effects such as period cramps.
